Urea Prices Could Be An Opportunity For Farmers

One analyst thinks Canadian farmers will start seeing a retail push offering urea for nearby, summer or autumn delivery.

Mike Jubinville of Pro Farmer Canada suggests that could be an opportunity.

He expects prices to be about 400 dollars a tonne, which he consisers some of the cheapest nitrogen in Canada in a decade.

Jubinville suggests the world is now on a mission to overproduce nitrogen.

With new North American nitrogen production capacity coming on line, he says the reduced dependence on imports will lead to more local competition.

Jubinville's short-term outlook is for world urea prices to run flat, with an undertone of weakness in the short term.
