Some Ontario Soybean Growers May Need To Re-Plant

Jeff Jacques with Parrish and Heimbecker says some Ontario corn fields required a little replanting this spring.

But he feels soybeans are a bigger concern.

Jacques says there are some pretty spotty soybean stands out there.

Although we've had some warm weather, he says when you get down a few inches, some fields are still wet and cool enough that the beans are struggling to get out of the ground.

He's encouraging growers to walk their fields to look for areas which might warrant replanting.

"The beans are emerging now and look in those gaps and see if there's any beans coming and if not, they should be really thinking about replants."

According to Jacques, it's not the absolute number that's important with soybeans - it's the uniformity of the stand.
