More U-S Cattle Placed Than Marketed In March

The total number of cattle and calves on feed in the U-S April 1st was up 1 per cent from a year ago.

The USDA's latest Cattle on Feed Report puts the total inventory at 10 point 9 million head.

The report says U-S cattlemen put more cattle into feedlots in March than they sold.

Placements in March were 1 point 89 million head - up 5 per cent from a year ago.

U-S marketings of fed cattle during March totalled 1 point 75 million head - 7 per cent above March of 2015.
