New Organic Deal In Place With Europe

It's now official - more Canadian organic products can be exported to the European Union.

The original EU-Canada Organic Equivalence Arrangement is five years old.

However, that arrangement has now been expanded to include organic wine and organic processed products certified to Canadian standards even if they contain organic ingredients from third countries.

The Equivalence agreement essentially means products certified organic in Canada are also considered organic in the EU, and if they're certified organic in the EU they're accepted as organic in Canada.

The expanded scope of that arrangement went into effect this week.
