Global Food Prices Up From February, Down From 2015

Global food prices edged up in March from February.

The U-N's Food and Agriculture Organisation's Food Price Index was up 1 per cent on the month.

However, it was almost 12 per cent below where it was a year ago.

The biggest contributor to the increase was sugar.

That index was up 32 points from February, hitting it's highest level since November of 2014.

The FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index was up 6 point 3 p er cent from February, hitting a 15 month high.

The Cereal Price Index was down marginally.

The Meat Price Index was virtually unchanged from February.

And the FAO Dairy Price Index was down 8 point 2 per cent to it's lowest level since June of 2009.
