OMAFRA Critic: Province's Farmers Face New Dangers

MPP Toby Barrett says Ontario farmers face new safety threats as well as the ones they've been hearing about for years.

The Conservative OMAFRA Critic points out the traditional dangers of equipment rollovers and getting tangled up in PTO shafts are still a concern.

Barrett says the Norfolk Farm Safety Association booklet also warns of the dangers of Lyme disease and West Nile virus.

The Conservative MPP is a past-president of that Association.

According to Barrett, Ontario has the unfortunate designation of having the most farm accidents in Canada.

He points out, however, that the province also has the largest number of farmers.

March 13th to the 19th is Farm Safety Week in Canada.
