Keeping Kids Safe Focus Of 2016 Ag Safety Week

Families will be the focus of this year's Canadian Agricultural Safety Week.

This year's theme is Be an AgSafe Family By Keeping Kids Safe.

Organisers want to empower farm families with the information they need to keep kids safe on the farm while preserving the farming lifestyle.

In Ontario, they're working with Workplace Safety & Prevention Services.

WSPS CEO Elizabeth Mills says on average, 13 children die on Canadian farms each year.

Canadian Agricultural Safety Week runs from March 13th to the 19th.

It's a co-operative effort of the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association and the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.

The presenting sponsor is Farm Credit Canada, with other sponsors including Esso, Fertilizer Canada, Dow AgroSciences, WSPS and Princess Auto.

Some of the funding is also provided through Growing Forward 2.
