Details Of Farmland Health Incentive Program

The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association is releasing some information about the 2016 Farmland Health Incentive program.

The FHIP offers financial support to implement select Best Management Practices.

The stewardship program supports actions with the greatest potential to impact the landscape, offering funding to address key issues to improve soil health and reduce edge of field phosphorus loss.

The combined impact of projects completed will help to improve the health of our Great Lakes.

There are 10 eligible Best Management Practices:

  1. Cover Crops
  2. Adding Organic Amendments
  3. Crop Nutrient Plans
  4. Buffer Strips
  5. Field Windbreaks and Windstrips
  6. Equipment Customization
  7. Erosion Control Structures
  8. Fragile Land Retirement
  9. Adoption through Equipment Rentals and Custom Work
  10. Runoff Water Management
While the program details are available for FHIP, application forms have yet to be released.
