A Cambridge breeder is being recognized with one of Holstein Canada's major awards.
Bruce Witmer of Speedside Holsteins will be receiving the organisation's Certificate of Recognition at it's annual meeting in April.
He was nominated by the Ontario Holstein Branch.
Witmer's nominators describe him as being instrumental in promoting programs of the Holstein breed and initiating the lifelong interest in the dairy industry for many young people.
Another of Holstein Canada's major awards - the Certificate of Superior Accomplishment - will be presented to Norm and Marj Atkins of Alberta at that same meeting.
Those two certificates have only been awarded a total of 21 times since 1954.
The Certificate of Superior Accomplishment as last awarded in 2013.
The Certificate of Recognition was last awarded in 2008.
According to Holstein Canada, the Superior Accomplishment certificate recognised national and international impact while the Recognition certificate is for more provincial or regional impact.
Holstein Canada's annual general meeting is being held in Banff, Alberta in April.
