South Korean Market Re-Opens For Canadian Beef

South Korea has lifted its temporary ban on the imports of beef and veal from Canada.

The ban was imposed after BSE was found in an Alberta cow last February.

South Korea is Canada's sixth largest market for beef.

Annual exports to that country are valued at about 26 million dollars.

Canadian Cattlemen's Association President Dave Solverson says Korea is a market that will p ay more for select parts of the animal that are under-utilized here.

Solverson says that helps increase the overall value of the animal for Canadian producers.
