U-S Corn, Soybean Crop Conditions Behind Last Year

Not much of a change in the condition of the major U-S crops this week.

The USDA says corn slipped a point, soybeans remained the same and the spring wheat condition improved by a point.

Corn's 69 per cent good to excellent is 3 points behind last year.

Soybeans - at 63 per cent good to excellent - are 8 points behind a year ago.

The spring wheat condition is 2 points better than last year.

The department says 53 per cent of the U-S spring wheat crop has been harvested - well ahead of the 31 per cent five year average for this time of the year.
