2015 TESA Goes To B-C Ranch

A B-C ranch has picked up this year's Canadian Cattlemen's Association Environmental Stewardship Award - the TESA.

Squaw Valley Ranch is operated by Darrell Squair, his wife Doris and their son Travis and his wife, Katie.

The CCA says the Squairs have shown their firm commitment to environmental stewardship, doing an excellent job in caring for the land and co-existing with wildlife.

The Ranch completed one of the first Environmental Farm Plans in the area.

One of the points cited in their nomination was their ability to co-exist with grizzly bears.

The Squaw Valley Ranch includes 28 hundred acres of private land, 700 acres of leased land and thousands of acres of sub-alpine Crown range.

They run 500 head of cattle on that farm.

The B-C farm was one of five in the running for this year's TESA.

Ontario's representative was Mooregrove Farms in Lambton County, operated by Chad and Debbie Anderson.

The Anderson's won this year's Ontario TESA.
