Loblaw Reports Year-Over-Year Increase In Retail Food Sales

Loblaw Companies Limited says it's same store retail food sales in the second quarter were up 2 point 2 per cent from the year before.

The company says it continued to deliver efficiencies in food retail on that quarter.

Loblaws' overall second quarter profit came in at 185 million dollars.

However, the company says it's going to close 52 unprofitable stores over the next year.

Loblaw says those stores facing closure will be across the range of its banners and formats.
