Dairy Farmers Moving Ahead With ProAction Program

Dairy Farmers of Canada delegates have set the stage for the remainder of the organisation's proAction modules.

The first two modules - milk quality and food safety - are wrapping up this year.

DFC says farmers have invested over 75 million dollars in improving milk quality.

The organisation also reports over 97 per cent of Canadian dairy farms have successfully undergone validation of the on-food safety program.

The remaining farms are expected to do so within the next few months.

The next two modules in the program are animal care and livestock traceability.

They're scheduled to be wrapped up by 2019.

The final stage modules are biosecurity and environment - running from 2019 to 2023.

DFC says the proAction program will offer proof to consumers that farmers are working to ensure milk quality and safety as well as continually improving animal health and welfare and environmental stewardship.
