Looking Into Hedging For Hog Markets

Canadian Pork Council Vice-Chair Bill Wymenga says hedging could become a useful business risk management tool for Canadian hog producers.

The federal government has announced an investment of almost 170 thousand dollars to help the Council explore that idea.

The CPC will use the funding to study the risks and impacts of hog market price fluctuations on producers.

The study will also explore the potential of developing a hog hedging program to mitigate that risk.
