Global Food Prices Continue Steady Decline

A U-N agency says world food prices were down almost 1 per cent last month from the previous month.

Last month's Food and Agriculture Organisation's Food Price Index was down 21 per cent from June of 2014.

The FAO says except for a lull in October of 2014 - the overall food price index has declined every month now since April of 2014.

The agency's vegetable oil price index was up 1 point 3 per cent from May, the dairy price index down 4 point 1 per cent and the sugar price index was down 6 point 6 per cent.

The FAO says it's meat price index remained essentially unchanged in June from previous levels in March, April and May.

Pork prices were up while beef prices were down and poultry changed only a little.
