Ontario Oat, Barley Growers Now Paying GFO Check-Off

Grain Farmers of Ontario is welcoming the province's oat and barley growers into the fold.

As of July 1st, GFO represents those farmers as well as the corn, soybean and wheat growers already part of the organisation.

Chair Mark Brock says GFO will support the oat and barley growers through research, market development, advocacy and public and member relations.

Oat and barley growers will pay for that through a check-off fee paid when they deliver their crops to a grain elevator.

For barley growers, it's a dollar 30 per metric tonne.

For oats, it's 1.65.

And for a mix of barley and oats, the check-off fee is a dollar 65 a metric tonne.
