Explaining What CAFA Means For Farmers

It's an umbrella organisation of professionals with one common connector - a commitment to agriculture.

The Canadian Association of Farm Advisors members includes accountants, financial planners, agrologists and farmers, among others.

The Association's Liz Robertson says the group coordinates opportunities for it's members to stay up to date on the agriculture industry and to network with other professionals dealing with the farm sector.

CAFA also offers a Certified Agricultural Farm Advisor designation - something Robertson says can help farmers identify professionals who are committed to agriculture and who understand the farming business.

Robertson argues production issues aren't going to sink a farm.

She suggests it's bad business management or poor communication with the family that are more likely to do serious damage.

According to Robertson, that's where CAFA members can help.
