Helping Improve Soil And Pollinator Health

A new program will help farmers assess challenging areas on their farm and identify best management practices to improve the soil and pollinator health on their operations.

It's called the Farmland Health Check-Up.

It's a partnership of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association and Ontario's Certified Crop Advisors.

Farmers can get a coupon that will cover up to three hours of a CCA's time to complete the check-up.

The coupons are free.

They're available on-line, at participating agricultural retail locations and from agricultural print publications.

The coupons are available to farmers in the Lake Huron southeast shores watershed as well as those in the Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie watersheds.

Having a completed Farmland Health Check-Up will be a prerequisite for funding that will become available later this year to help implement eligible BMP's identified during the check-up.
