B-C Avian Influenza Outbreak Over - Surveillance Continues In Ontario

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has given B-C a clean bill of health on notifiable Avian Influenza.

That follows a three month surveillance period since the last reportable case in the province.

Trading partners who recognized Canada's disease control zones may now choose to resume trade in poultry and poultry products from B-C.

Those countries which have restricted trade from all of Canada are expected to keep restrictions in place until Ontario is declared free of notifiable avian influenza.

There were three cases in Ontario - all in Oxford County.

The province has not yet gone through it's full three month surveillance period since the last reportable case so some restrictions still apply here.
