A mink farm in the St. Marys area was the target of what police are describing as a break, enter and mischief occurrence on the weekend.
The OPP say those responsible broke into a barn and released about 16 hundred female mink.
Almost a thousand of the animals have been located.
Some had died.
About 600 are still missing.
Police say the nursing babies that remained in the cages are not expected to survive.
The replacement costs to that St. Marys area mink farm could be more than 200 thousand dollars.
Perth County OPP are encouraging anyone with information to contact them or Crimestoppers.
