Spreading The Word About Bird Flu Protection

Ontario's Feather Board Command Centre is trying to spread the word about bird flu to small flock and backyard flock owners.

The Centre is asking poultry brokers and dealers in the province to help distribute an infographic on the disease to all clients who pick up or receive delivery of chicks, pullets and poults.

The infographic is designed to help identify and contain the spread of the disease, protecting the health of all poultry in Ontario.

Poultry producers inside two 10 kilometer zones in the province are currently under quarnatine and Heightened Biosecurity Protocols.

Two turkey farms and a chicken farm have confirmed case of avian influenza .

The Feather Board Command Centre is encouraging all the province's poultry producers to adopt the fundamental elements of that Heightened Biosecurity Protocol - even though their own farms are not under quarantine.

Poultry growers are also advised to immediatly contact the CFIA Diagnostics and Surveillance Centre (519-691-0615) if their birds show any signs of illness.
