Tool To Heighten Awareness Of Farm Biz Risks

A new toolkit has been launched to help farmers identify and manage business risks.

It's a partnership of the Agri-Food Management Institute and Farm Management Canada.

AMI Executive Director Ryan Koeslag says the toolkit will heighten farmer awareness of risks and lay the foundation for a farm contingency plan that works towards their business goals.

It features a Risk Assessment Spreadsheet that assigns scores to key areas of the farm business, based on the frequency and magnitude of risk and the preparedness for managing that risk.

Once the spreadsheet is completed, the toolkit will generate a visual to identify high priority risks within the operation and gauge the farmer's level of preparedness for each.

The toolkit supports farmers using FMC's Comprehensive Guide to Managing Risk in Agriculture.
