Federal funding is going to help an Ontario company make snack bars that will remain whole without the use of sugar binders.
Government officials say that's going to increase the demand for oats, blueberries and flax.
It's also supposed to add 31 full-time jobs on the production line of Riverside Natural Foods in Vaughan, in the Toronto area.
The 782 thousand dollar repayable contribution will go towards the equipment needed to process those snack bars - a process described as among the first of it's kind in the industry.
Riverside is a family-owned company that produces healthy snack foods with distribution domestically and to export markets.
