UPDATE: Power outage closes three schools, winter weather cancels school buses in Zone 6

The winter weather has cancelled school buses in parts of Chatham-Kent on Thursday.

Buses in Zone 6, which includes Dresden, Thamesville, Ridgetown, Bothwell, Highgate and Morpeth, are not running.

Power is also out in Thamesville and Ridgetown for over 500 Entegrus customers.

As a result, St. Michaels Catholic School in Ridgetown, Thamesville Area Central School, and Good Shepherd Catholic School in Thamesville will be closed today.

In Lambton Country, buses are not running in zones 1, 3 and 4.

Provincial Police have closed the 401 between Furnival Road and Currie Road in Elgin County due to poor weather and driving conditions.

OPP have also shutdown Highway 402 at Nauvoo Road due to blowing snow and zero visibility.

Wind gusts up to 70 km/h, along with bursts of heavy blowing snow is significantly reducing visibility at times, and roads are snow-covered in spots.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and be prepared for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
