Driver ends up in the ditch while trying to ditch police

A 29-year-old Ridgetown man is facing charges after he allegedly drove a stolen pickup truck into a ditch while trying to flee from police.

Chatham-Kent police said an officer on patrol tried to stop the pickup truck shortly after 12 a.m. Monday, but the driver took off.

Police said the vehicle eventually ended up in a small ditch on Selton Line in Thamesville and the driver was arrested.

A Ridgetown man was taken to police headquarters in Chatham and was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving, and fleeing from police.

Police said the man was also wanted for failing to comply with a release order and breaching a conditional sentence order.

He was set to be held for bail.

Man arrested for breaching release conditions during break-in

A 25-year-old Windsor man is in more trouble with the law after he allegedly broke into an apartment in Dresden Sunday morning that he was supposed to stay away from.

Police said the man allegedly forced his way into the apartment just before 9 a.m. Sunday even though he had previously been released from custody with conditions requiring him to stay away from that specific address and the woman who lived there.

The man was charged with two counts of mischief and one count each of break-and-enter and failing to comply with a release order.

He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested for refusing to leave Wallaceburg hospital

A 49-year-old woman was charged with trespassing after she allegedly refused to leave the hospital in Wallaceburg.

CK police said hospital security and staff had asked the woman to leave the premises, but she refused, so they called police at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

The woman was arrested by police and removed from the location.

Woman arrested for attending variety store she had been banned from

A 32-year-old woman who was banned from attending a variety store on Grand Avenue West in Chatham was arrested there Sunday evening.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called in for that shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The woman was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
