Amherstburg Uncommon Festival is back

If "uncommon" fun is what you're after, the Amherstburg Uncommon Festival returns Friday for a weekend of steampunk and wizardry.

The fun gets underway at 5 p.m. on Friday in downtown Amherstburg at the King's Navy Yard Park. It continues Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

There are fireworks on Saturday night, and costume contests all weekend, with $2,000 in prizes up for grabs. Wizard Academy will have crafts for young wizards, along with escape rooms, archery, axe throwing, and mini glow golf for the whole family.

Local charities invite those who go to bring socks for the Sock Tree.

Steve Goodtime will be there with his comedic steampunk opera blending music and comedy, a magical show called Charming Cheat, and the Lucky Barber Show juggles comedy with physical stunts.
