Windsor Ward 2 byelection field continues to grow

Additional hopefuls in a byelection for Windsor City Council have declared their candidacies.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the City's official website listed 13 registered candidates for the Ward 2 byelection.

The seat, which covers an area of west Windsor including Olde Sandwich Towne, was vacated by the resignation of Fabio Costante earlier this summer. Costante accepted a position with the Windsor-Essex Community Housing Corporation.

Candidates who most recently declared include businessman John Cutting, along with Michael DiPierdomenico, and NextStar Energy production technician Jun Wayan.

Also running are Nick Amlin, Helmi Charif, Frazier Fathers, Brian Green, Tecumseh MacGuigan, Christie Nelson, Sam Romano, Krystalynn Singh, Patrick Sutherland, Cynthia Ann Van Vrouwerff, and Mo Zafar.

The deadline to file nomination papers is 2 p.m. on Friday.

Advance voting will be available on October 17 and 18 at Campbell Baptist Church on Wyandotte Street West.

The byelection runs on Monday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The winner will complete Costante's term, which ends in November 2026.
