Sarnia Fire Rescue crews prevented a potentially dangerous hazardous materials situation after a crash Tuesday morning.
At around 10 a.m., a van collided with a transport truck in the area of Plank Road and Churchill Line.
Public Education Officer Mike Otis told Sarnia News Today that the crash caused the transport's hydraulic tank to rupture, spilling fluid.
They used hazardous materials techniques, including the use of absorbent pads, to contain the product and prevent it from seeping into the ground and polluting the soil.
At least eight five-gallon pails of fluid were collected, and no injuries were reported as the impact was relatively minor.
The Ministry of Environment is investigating as a standard practice.
