A verbal dispute between two neighbours turned violent Wednesday evening. Sarnia police say it happened at a home on Fairview Place around 5pm. Its alleged a 33-year-old man punched another man in the head and when the victims wife attempted to intervene, she was allegedly assaulted as well. Police say the suspect went into his residence and returned brandishing a handgun. He demanded the victims' wife hand over the keys to their van and then fled in the vehicle. An OPP officer spotted the van and initiated a pursuit, which was eventually called off in the interest of public safety as the van approached Wallaceburg. The vehicle was found abandoned outside the town and the handgun recovered inside. Sarnia police will be requesting a warrant for the suspect, whose name has not yet been released.
