It's almost time to lace up your shoes for Hike for Hospice in support of The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
Registration is now open for the event. Organizers said that this year, Hike for Hospice will be a hybrid event where participants can choose to hike on their own between May 1 and 6 or walk as a community during our in-person event on May 7.
The hike will once again be done at Mud Creek Trail in Chatham, which can accommodate participants of all abilities.
Before hitting the trail, hikers gather pledges, with proceeds going to support compassionate end-of-life care for local families at no cost.
“We spent our final days with my mother Louane at Chatham-Kent Hospice. Hospice provided us with the opportunity to be a family again. The support, love and care the nurses and staff provided my mom and our family was beyond anything we have ever experienced. My amazing Hike for Hospice Team “Lou’s Crew” has participated in the Hike since 2018 and it is our mission to continue to give back as much as we can by our fundraising efforts," said Katie Holmes. "This is also my personal gift to my mother. I no longer have the opportunity to spoil her with gifts on holidays or special occasions, so this is my gift to her and a way to express my love and appreciation. I encourage everyone to participate in the Hike for Hospice."
Registration is free and participants are able to purchase a commemorative t-shirt, photo lanyard or personalized memorial sign.
