The family trying to recover from a house fire near Dresden earlier this week is now wondering why someone would steal their vehicles.
On Thursday, Chatham-Kent police told CK News Today there was a break and enter at a shed at the same location on Croton Line on Monday and a blue 1984 Chevy Camaro with no plate was reported stolen.
Police said two ATV’s - a green and black 2022 Yamaha Raptor bearing plate 5XP72 and a blue Tao 125CC - were also stolen.
A pickup truck was dragged from the driveway to the northeast corner of the property where the ignition was damaged.
The ignition of a riding lawnmower was also damaged.
A number of other items were taken as well, according to police, including four chrome rally rims and a Stihl SM291 Chainsaw.
"So sickening first we lose our home and everything in it and some sick twisted @#$%$#@ went on our property and stole our kids quads, dirt bikes, and a bunch of Jamie’s work tools. Like what the @#$%$#@ is wrong with this world. Nothing like kicking us when we are already down and taking the only @#$%$#@ we did have left," Tanya Vantomme said in a social media post.
She said police came and took pictures and tried to get fingerprints.
The house fire on Monday caused $250,000 in damage. The rental was not insured.
