The delicious smells of barbecue will take over Tecumseh Park in Chatham this weekend.
Ribfest is back and there will be five all-new award-winning ribbers serving up barbecue starting Thursday, July 7 at 3 p.m.
"We've had, over the last 13 years, a pretty consistent lineup of ribbers that have been familiar faces to everybody," said promoter Chris Glassford. "But this year we've changed the layout a little bit, brought in five new faces."
One of the new ribbers will be known to many in Chatham-Kent though as Gonzalez used to run a food truck in downtown Chatham.
Glassford adds that they have a lot planned, including a craft beer and beverage garden.
"We also have entertainment, of course, free entertainment. So it does not cost you anything to come into the park, sit down, and enjoy the entertainment that we've got going on all weekend. We also have rides, which is a last-minute feature we got back from 2019. And there's Art in the Park, which is a side feature to the event this year as well."
Art in the Park is in its fourth year, but this is the first year it is being held during Ribfest.
"Lots of local artists come out and put their works out for the public to come and see," said Glassford. "Some of them are on display, and other are for sale. So you can come out and buy wonderful pieces of art, or see what people in the community are creating."
Ribfest is open from 3-11 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.
