Teen arrested for drug-impaired driving
An 18-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after he allegedly drove a vehicle off the road and into a hydro pole.
Police said they were called to the single-vehicle crash on Colborne Street in Chatham last night, adding that the damage was estimated at $33,000.
Officers said by the time they arrived, the driver had already left the scene on foot and walked over to a nearby residence.
Police were able to find the driver at his home and believed he had been operating the vehicle under the influence of a drug, so they arrested him and took him back to police headquarters for an evaluation with a Drug Recognition Expert.
As a result of the investigation, the man was charged with impaired driving and was later released with a future court date.

Suspicious person call leads to arrest in Shrewsbury
A 15-year-old Chatham youth has been arrested after he was allegedly caught hanging around a residence in Shrewsbury he had been ordered to stay away from.
Police said they found the teen at the residence Monday afternoon while they were following up on a report of a suspicious person.
The teen -- who was also wanted on an outstanding surety relief warrant -- was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for making phone call to London woman
A man who wasn't supposed to communicate with a specific London woman is in more trouble with police after he allegedly gave her a phone call.
Chatham-Kent police said communication ban was one of the conditions imposed on the man when he was released from custody on February 27, 2021.
Officers said the man allegedly called the woman Monday afternoon, though, adding that they tracked him down while he was driving on River Line in Chatham and arrested him.
The accused was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted woman found with man who wasn't supposed to talk to her
A 64-year-old Chatham man who was supposed to stay away from a specific 41-year-old woman has been arrested again after police allegedly found them together Monday afternoon.
Police said they found the pair while they were responding to a disturbance outside of a residence in Chatham at around 5 p.m. Monday.
Officers said they learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the woman, so they arrested him and charged him with failing to comply.
The 41-year-old woman who was with him was also arrested and charged with facilitating a breach. Police said she was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for three counts of mischief.
Both of the accused were later released with future court dates.

Chatham man found out past his curfew
A 38-year-old Chatham man who was already wanted by police is in more trouble with the law after he was allegedly caught at a woman's residence in Chatham early Tuesday morning when he should have been at home.
Police said the man was release from court back in December of last year with several conditions, one of which was that he was supposed to stay at a specific address in Chatham and remain there between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. daily.
Officers said they found the man at a separate home at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, though, while they were responding to a disturbance there.
The man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions. Police said he was also wanted on two outstanding warrant. He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Bicycle reported stolen from garage
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a black Kona Dew Plus bicycle that was reported stolen from an unlocked garage on Turnbull Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Police said it's believed it was taken sometime over the past three weeks, adding that anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Craig Zink at craigz@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #87324.
