Collision near Listowel claims 2 lives

Provincial police are investigating after a two vehicle collision near Listowel claimed the lives of two people.

Emergency crews were called to Perth Line 86 near Road 153 just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say a car and a pickup truck collided.

"The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the passenger in that same vehicle was transported to local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased," police said in a statement issued Sunday morning. "The driver of the truck was seriously injured and transported by air ambulance to a London Hospital."

Police say the deceased were 72-years-old and 75-years-old. The pickup driver was 17-years-old.

"The cause of the collision is being investigated. Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement Team were at the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Perth Line 86 was closed for the investigation and has since been re-opened," police said.
