Shoplifter assaults store staff and gets arrested by police in Goderich

A shoplifter who allegedly assaulted staff at a store in Goderich is facing numerous charges.

According to Huron County OPP, on September 5 just before 10 a.m., officers were called about an individual who reportedly stole items from a store and assaulted a staff member on Huron Road in Goderich.

Police quickly responded and located the alleged suspect and placed them under arrest. Officers found the stolen merchandise on the suspect. The staff member at the store was not injured.

As a result, a 29-year-old of no fixed address has been charged with assault, theft under $5,000 and fail to comply with probation.

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
