Owen Sound Teachers Pick Up Award in Ottawa

Two Owen Sound Teachers were in Ottawa to receive their History Awards for Excellence in Teaching from The Governor General

Ryan McManaman and David Alexander were honoured at a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa yesterday.

The two teachers were recognized for their unique teaching projects encouraging students to learn more about the history of local residents during the time of the First and Second World Wars.

MP Larry Miller says there were only 8 recipients in the entire country to receive the award, and he commends both teachers for their dedication.

“I was proud to watch today as Ryan McManaman and David Alexander accepted their Governor General’s History Awards for Excellence in Teaching, at Rideau Hall,” said

Miller. “There were only 8 recipients in the entire country who received this award and I congratulate both Mr. McManaman and Mr. Alexander on a job very well done. This

award is certainly well-deserved and I commend them both for their dedication to teaching Canadian history.”
