Community Resource and Job Fair taking place in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent will host a Community Resource and Job Fair in Blenheim on Wednesday, June 10.

It will take place from 2-6 p.m. at St. Mary's Hall, 94 George Street.

"We've got 18 employers that are going to be on site, we've got employers from all around Chatham-Kent," said Matt Keech, Manager, Employment and Social Services for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. "We also have 10 community organizations that are going to be promoting some of their local services as well."

Job seekers should be prepared to do interviews on the spot.

"We've seen people literally walk out with a job offer, which is fantastic," said Kelly Bouwers, Supervisor, Employment and Social Services for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. "These employers are hiring for all different types of positions, so it could be a part-time position, it could be full-time, there are some contract summer positions, there's really going to be something there for everyone."

Keech has some tips for anyone who plans on attending the event.

"Want to be dressed for success. Bring your resume, employers will be on site looking to get to know people, and definitely have opportunities for all job seekers. Students, professionals, and everything in between," said Keech.

But it's not just jobs; several community organizations and municipal services will be there.

"We're going to be promoting things like housing, newcomer supports, healthcare training opportunities, and a real range of things," said Keech. "So whether people are looking for information on jobs or other services in our community, it's a great place to be."

Keech said there will be lots of great local opportunities for job seekers.

"We've got a range of employers from the Blenheim area, including Martinrea Ridgetown, Gincor Werx, Gillier Drainage, Peeter's mushrooms and more," said Keech. "I'd encourage people to jump on our website, we've got all the information available there. You can register, or you can just show up."
