Three alleged court skippers arrested

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with three more people who were all wanted for skipping their scheduled court dates.

Police said they found the first man on Harvey Street in Chatham at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers confirmed that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to drug offences and he was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

He is charged with two counts of drug possession and one count of failing to attend court.

Police picked up a second man accused of skipping court when he showed up at the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue in Chatham just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend a scheduled court date in an assault investigation.

The 48-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A third man who was wanted for missing a scheduled court appearance was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Thursday during a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police said they were able to confirm that a passenger in the vehicle they had pulled over was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in an investigation into a stolen vehicle from 2021.

The 42-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham man arrested for breaching his release conditions

A 36-year-old Chatham man is in more trouble with the law after he was allegedly spotted near a residence in Chatham he was supposed to stay away from.

Police said they arrested the man after they were called to a disturbance on Gray Street at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers said they found the man a short distance away from the residence and arrested him.

He was taken back to police headquarters and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man wanted for investigation from 2022 arrested in Wallaceburg

The long arm of the law has finally caught up with a Walpole Island man who was wanted in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation from 2022.

CK police said they found the man while they were following up on a trespassing call on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The 40-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
